This page was created as the meaning of the Double Cross is asked often.

The Meaning of the Double Cross

"The symbol embodies in itself the dual nature of mankind - the human animal, as it is, has been, and always will be. An acknowledgment of the refined side, as well as the animal within: good and evil, love and hate, birth and death, laughter and sorrow, light and shade - and , in our case, 'Beauty and Beast'. One cannot exist without the other, and the symbol is a reminder of that - too many people blind themselves to one side or the other, and the symbol is there to remind them to always think twice. The symbol appears in all our work as it's the best representation of what we do."

- William Faith

Annwyn ShieldThe Annwyn Double-tiered Cross

This special ornate cross was designed by Monica Richards. It was inspired by classic Celtic knotwork found on ancient shields.

"The meaning, like the Yin-Yang, is an expression as to the duality in all things, thus creating a version to coincide with the release of the 'Annwyn' CD was easy. The first version (shown left) was a drawing of an ancient shield, and it was released only on the first pressing of the Annwyn CD. After that, I refined it to look like the "Book of Annwyn" version.

With each new CD release, I styled a double cross to coincide witht the feeling of the music. The Evidence Cross was fashioned after European flourishes, the Burning Season was Deco, simple and straightforward.

- Monica Richards

The Cross Necklace

CrossesThe first F&TM Cross necklaces were created by Stephanie Atkins, of Lovely Creatures Creations, in 1993 (shown right). Worn by Monica and William whenever they performed, the necklaces inspired fans to ask how they could get their own. Tthe original Elyrian Cross was created, and then an Annwyn Cross design was made after that.

New, smaller cross designs are now available!
